VAT
Evans & Co Accountants can help you deal with all your Business's quarterly and yearly VAT requirements.
You may need to register for VAT, or you may be able to choose to register voluntarily. If your turnover of VAT taxable goods and services supplied within the UK exceeds £85,000 in the previous 12 months on a rolling basis or you expect it to go over that figure in the next 30 days alone, you must register for VAT. If you are taking over a VAT registered business from someone else then you have to add your own VAT taxable turnover over the last 12 months (if any) to that of the business you are taking over. If the total goes over the registration threshold currently £85,000 you will need to register for VAT.
Registering on a voluntary basis can have potential cash flow advantages as you will be able to claim back VAT on your purchases, for example if you sell zero rated items and buy standard rated items you would receive a VAT refund from HMRC or if you do not sell anything during a VAT accounting period you may still be able to claim the VAT back on your purchases.
